University West of England

I am an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in primary care, and have been working clinically in advanced practice for 18 years, both in secondary and primary care.

I have also work in advanced practice education for the past eight years at the University of the West of England, Bristol. I am the lead for the MSc Advanced Practice and a number of advanced practice modules. I have additional roles working as an external examiner for Birmingham city University and also as an assessor for the RCN credentialing team.

I have a passion for advanced practice and the recognition of the role within the health care, advocating that the education level needs to be Masters level. There needs to be a common language between all health care professional to ensure safe effective care, therefore education needs to be multi-disciplinary.
As an AAPEUK committee member I believe that we can lobby for high standards of education that are universal to all 4 countries.
