I am a new member of the committee having been co-opted for a short period. My clinical background is emergency Nursing in a number of Northeast EDs, before moving into Advanced Practice in several areas including GP surgeries, out of hours, urgent care services and acute hospital settings.
As a Director of Education for CPD my academic interests include regulation of Advanced Practice education and competence, which I investigated at Masters Level. This has continued into research and current Doctoral studies examining the influence of practice experiences on ENPs feelings of role proficiency. I am also engaged in research relating to Advanced Practice in Primary Care. I have developed and deliver a commissioned PGDip programme for Advanced Paramedics which informed the development of taught and apprenticeship ACP programmes at Northumbria University.
I share AAPEUK’s desire for standard setting in ACP education across the UK and keen to share expertise, collaborate and undertake research to take the advanced practice agenda forward in the HE sector. I am committed to driving the future direction of ACP in the UK by supporting the work of the committee and its members.Email
